Pather Panchali

With the release in 1955 of Satyajit Ray’s debut, Pather Panchali, an eloquent and important new cinematic voice made itself heard all over the world. A depiction of rural Bengali life in a style inspired by Italian neorealism, this naturalistic but poetic evocation of a number of years in the life of a family introduces us to both little Apu and, just as essentially, the women who will help shape him his independent older sister, Durga; his harried mother, Sarbajaya, who, with her husband away, must hold the family together; and his kindly and mischievous elderly “auntie,” Indir—vivid, multifaceted characters all. With resplendent photography informed by its young protagonist’s perpetual sense of discovery, Pather Panchali, which won an award for Best Human Document at Cannes, is an immersive cinematic experience and a film of elemental power.

Vikram Vedha

On one side is the righteous cop Vikram, who believes in a clear demarcation between good and evil and sees things clearly as black and white. To balance him out, on the other side of the spectrum is the mysterious gangster Vedha, who is worldly wise and does not believe anything to be just simple black and white. The movie is the powerful clash between these two ideologies, represented by two powerhouse performers Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathy. The Black Prince (Hindi/Punjabi)

The movie is about the fascinating true story of the last King of the mighty Kingdom of Punjab. The King, Maharaja Duleep Singh, was placed on the throne at the age of five only to be robbed of his throne by a bloody treason at the hands of trusted courtiers. He was then torn from his mother and taken to England by the British at age fifteen. While in England, he was introduced to Queen Victoria, who took an immediate liking to him, calling him "The Black Prince". He was indoctrinated into Christianity and baptized, changing his life forever. Meeting his mother again after thirteen years, the Maharaja awakens to the realities of his former life in Punjab. He then begins the arduous journey to regain all that was lost and re-embrace the faith of his birth, Sikhism. Torn between his two worlds, The Black Prince begins a lifelong struggle to regain his Kingdom. It takes him on an extraordinary journey across the world.

Vara: A Blessing

In the lush countryside of a rural Indian Village, a timeless story of forbidden love unfolds. A story of a village simpleton, Shinda (Gippy Grewal), who is a school bus driver in love with the local bank manager's sister Laali (Zareen Khan). Her brother is strictly against their relationship because of their class differences and status. They won't be able to get married unless Shinda manages to buy his own house. A quick idea for quick buck is to attempt a robbery but instead he gets caught by the local MLA who claims the loot.

Papanasam

Kamal Haasan lives a contented life with his family comprising of his wife Gautami and two daughters (Niveda Thomas and Baby Esther). He runs a cable TV service in a rural area and his passion is watching movies. Kamal Haasan's teenage daughter gets photographed in the bathroom at a nature camp by a hidden cell phone. The culprit is the son of the police inspector general (Asha Sharath) who accidentally gets killed by Gautami and her daughter when he comes to blackmail them. The movie from this point is about how Kamal Haasan protects his family from the hands of law as he believes that they have not committed the crime wantonly and are not supposed to be punished.

Dil Vil Pyaar Vyaar

This story is about Agam Singh, a man who is both virtuous and compassionate. He is also the eldest of five siblings. The film unravels a story of these five brothers and their strong bond. The eldest brother wants to sacrifice his life for his younger siblings and in parallel, the younger brothers want their eldest brother to marry and settle down before them. Agam soon realizes that his brothers are turning down proposals for marriage because they want him to marry first. He then decides to carry out a trick to get his brothers to move forward in their lives and get married.

Double Di Trouble

Double Di Trouble, based on Comedy of Errors, Shakespeare's well-known play, takes a Desi avatar when father-son pair discover their mirror images in a different city. The riot of laughter begins when the people around this duplicate duo keep confusing between the two. The situation gets further confounded when the duo tries to put their own logic behind the new faces behaving like old pals. Hold your horses before you jump to conclusions. This is one of the morals of the film. Irudhi Suttru

An under-fire boxing coach, Prabhu is transferred from Hisar in Haryana to Chennai as his bosses at the Boxing Council do not like his disrespectful rule-breaking unconventional ways. In Chennai, he chances upon the raw fighting talent of Madhi, the sibling of aspiring boxer Lakshmi. He decides to put all his effort to tame Madhie and get her to shine but he is repeatedly put off by her playfulness & distrust

Thoongaavanam

Kamal Haasan is an undercover cop working for the narcotics bureau. He is also very fond of his son (Aman Abdullah). Kamal conducts a very risky operation involving a huge stash of cocaine and drug dealers who won't show mercy if their loot were to be compromised. He soon gets entangled in a vicious drug war, which leaves his family in grave danger. Prakash Raj, a nightclub owner who sells these drugs to the dealers, kidnaps Kamal's son and demands the bag of cocaine as terms for his release. Working frantically against the ticking clock, Kamal needs to find this bag soon; but things get rather complicated when agents from his own department (Trisha & Kishore) intercept the bag and suspect him of playing a double game. It remains to be seen if the co-conspirators could be outsmarted and Kamal Haasan's son, saved.

Gabhricha Paus

The plot of the movie is based on simple aspirations, the undying urge in the human race to live and to live against all odds. The film is about the life of a farmer Kisna (Girish Kulkarni), who is trying to get a good crop in the drought-stricken Vidarbha region, which has been notorious for farmer suicides. It also allegorically tells about how lack of information and education amongst the farmers, can ruin them, despite their indefatigable spirit. After, the debt-ridden neighbour Bhaskar Deshmukh commits suicide, amongst many other farmers of the region, Kisna's wife Alka (Sonali Kulkarni) observes Kisna's aloofness and interprets that Kisna is contemplating suicide too. She asks their 6-year old son Dinu (Aman Attar) to keep a watch on Kisna, and report any irregular behavior. Kisna is however imbued by the thoughts of the arrival of the Monsoon.

Naughty Jatts

A Punjabi Romantic Comedy directed by Pankaj Batra, revolves around Simmy (Neeru Bajwa), a young bubbly girl with a strict upbringing whose dream is to become a singer one day. Her school friends Rocky (Aryan Babbar) and Laali (Binnu Dhillon) are madly in love with Simmy but are unable to show their feelings to her. There arrives charming Balwinder (Roshan Prince) from village, a good singer and he too develops a thing for her. A contest is devised by Simmy, which shall decide her to-be groom by winning the singing contest and all three suitors begin to plan their own tricks to win the contest. Now, who will win Simmy's heart, forms the rest of the plot. A non-stop entertainer and a spree of LOL, will continue to scintillate your senses.

Muramba

An incompatible couple Alok and Indu, who decide to end their three year relation upon noticing their growing problems, decide to revisit their issues and solve the conflicts. The Deshmukhs live in Pune with their only son Alok, who has been in relationship with Indu for the past four years. Assuming that his parents won't understand him like friends, Alok shied away from discussing his issues with them. However, he, one day, opens up to his parents about his relationship with Indu and its ups and downs, only to realize that his parents are the best friends that he made upon his birth.

Jatts in Golmaal

Sunny (Arya Babbar), a young Punjabi boy wishes to travel to Canada in search of better job prospects at any cost. He gets in touch with a Crook Agent Jugnu (Gurpreet Guggi), who cons him in a visa fraud. On the other hand, Titoo Don (Binnu Dhillon) is suffering from a cardiac problem and is in search of a donor for heart transplant. Sunny agrees to donate his heart in exchange for money, unaware of what would happen to him. What follows is comedy of errors with crazy confusion while Balli Chacha (Jaswinder Bhalla) and his friend Jugnu try to save Sunny's heart and life.

Haani

Haani is a romantic saga spanning two different generations of a family. It tells the story of love, friendship and honour immortalized by commitment. The film simultaneously narrates 2 plots. Ranjit (Harbhajan) and Jagga (Sarabjit) are best friends in 1964 where Ranjit falls for Sukhaan (Mehreen) and loves her to death. Another plot involves Harman (Anuj) and Preet's (Sonia) love story in 2013 and Tony (Rupan Bal) who has a similar role to Jagga in the movie. Somehow fate connects these love stories together.

Pushkar Puran

"All year one sensed a hidden tension, all year something was going on in preparation for those days, as if the ultimate purpose of the year was to home in on those three days." (Roberto Calasso, "Ka: Stories of the Mind and Gods of India") Pushkar is a small town in the Federal State of Rajasthan in northwest India and one of the holiest places of Hinduism. Once a year, however, during the full moon in the autumn month of Kartik, the town and the desert surrounding it turn into a sprawling fun fair with Ferris wheels and carousels, music from folklore to rock and colorful dance performances. Thousands of people, Hindus and Muslims alike, pour in from villages in the whole region to trade camels, horses and cattle. The spectacle appears in the desert as suddenly as a Fata Morgana. And just as suddenly the colorful magic is over. Director Kamal Swaroop captures the exuberant goings-on with a precise eye for strong images and details, exploring the myths and gods of India as well as their political instrumentalisation.
