Dances With Wolves

The Alamo (2004)

Where myth meets history. Where legend meets reality. The roads cross at San Antonio de Bexar and the small, ruined mission there: the Alamo. In the spring of 1836, nearly 200 Texans - men of all races who believed in the future of Texas - held the fort for 13 days under siege by General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, ruler of Mexico and commander of its forces. Led by three men - the young, brash Col. William Travis; the violent, passionate James Bowie; and the larger than-life living legend David Crockett - the Texans and their deeds at the Alamo would pass into history as General Sam Houston's rallying cry for Texas independence and into legend for their symbolic significance. High Plains Drifter

True Grit (2010)

Following the murder of her father by hired hand Tom Chaney, 14-year-old farm girl Mattie Ross sets out to capture the killer. To aid her, she hires the toughest U.S. marshal she can find, a man with "true grit," Reuben J. "Rooster" Cogburn. Mattie insists on accompanying Cogburn, whose drinking, sloth, and generally reprobate character do not augment her faith in him. Against his wishes, she joins him in his trek into the Indian Nations in search of Chaney. They are joined by Texas Ranger LaBoeuf, who wants Chaney for his own purposes. The unlikely trio find danger and surprises on the journey, and each has his or her "grit" tested.

Last of the Dogmen

The Last Hard Men

On a dusty chain gang in the early 1900s, inmate Zach Provo stages an escape with six other convicts. Provo isn't looking for freedom, he's looking to get back at the man who imprisoned him years before - Sheriff Sam Burgade. Provo blames Burgade for the death of his wife, as she was killed in the gunfight where he was captured. Burgade, now retired, wants nothing to do with gunslinging. Provo resorts to kidnapping Burgade's daughter, Susan. He threatens to rape and kill Susan unless Burgade comes out of retirement. Out of options, Burgade dusts off his revolvers and goes on the trail of the murderous Provo.

The War Wagon

Two cinematic legends, John Wayne and Kirk Douglas, team up to seize a small fortune in gold in this action-packed western classic. Wayne plays Taw Jackson, a range-hardened rancher who's hell-bent on capturing the infamous War Wagon, an ironclad stagecoach protected by a small army of men and owned by a thieving cattle baron who robbed Taw of his gold and good name years before. Ride the High Country

Flaming Star

Elvis Presley plays Pacer Burton, a half-breed youth in the Old West torn between loyalty to the whites, as represented by his father (John McIntyre), and the Indians, represented by his mother (Dolores Del Rio). A series of brutal Kiowa raids, and the subsequent reprisals by the white settlers, sorely test Pacer's fortitude. Though offered moral support by his parents and by his girlfriend (Barbara Eden), Pacer is forced to work things out himself.

A Fistful of Dollars

A pancho-clad, cigar-chewing, mysterious 'Man with No Name' rides into a small frontier town which is embroiled in a struggle for power between two families. He hires himself out as a mercenary, first to one faction and then to the other, with no regard for honor or morality. He plays both sides against the middle, collecting his money, until he eventually destroys both, leaving the town to the bartender, coffin-maker and bell ringer as he rides off into the desert from whence he came. Based on Akira Kurosawa's 1961 film Yojimbo.
