Dark Skye

Dark Skye

In this highly anticipated fifteenth novel in the Immortals After Dark series, #1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole spins a sultry tale of a mighty warrior scarred inside and out and the beguiling sorceress with the power to heal him—or vanquish him forever.

Eternal Obsession
As a boy, Thronos, prince of Skye Hall, loved Lanthe, a mischievous Sorceri girl who made him question everything about his Vrekener clan. But when the two got caught in the middle of their families’ war, tragedy struck, leaving Thronos and Lanthe bitter enemies. Though centuries have passed, nothing can cool his seething need for the beautiful enchantress who scarred his body—and left an even deeper impression on his soul.

Endless Yearning
Lanthe, a once-formidable sorceress struggling to reclaim her gifts, searches for love and acceptance with all the wrong immortal suitors. But she’s never forgotten Thronos, the magnificent silver-eyed boy who protected her until she was ripped from the shelter of his arms. One harrowing night changed everything between them. Now he’s a notorious warlord with a blood vendetta against Lanthe, hunting her relentlessly.

Can the heat of desire burn brighter than vengeance?
With their families locked in conflict and battles raging all around them, will Thronos and Lanthe succumb to the brutal chaos that threatens everything they cherish? Or will the fragile bond they formed so long ago spark a passion strong enough to withstand even the darkest doubts?

  • One of my favorites in the series

Love this story and have re-read it several times over. Lanthe and Thronos have one of the deepest relationships of any of the characters in this series. I love the many different "worlds" they journey through while working through their prejudices and complicated history. This is second only to "Lothaire" in my opinion. Great read!

  • WOW

The thing I love about Kresley Cole is that with each book, her plots get better and better! Already we are at book 14. I started with A Hunger Like No Other and was hooked as soon as Lachlain calls Emma his "wee little halfling". ((*sighs*)) There was some debate and the author even took a vote for what would have been book #12, It was between Lothaire and Thronos. Lothaire won. But, come on, we as fans WANT them all. (Brilliant, complicated writer) The best part of the series is how the author ties all of the stories together. If you have read any other books in this series, you know it is like a Chess game, and while we are making our move, Mrs. Cole is 5 moves ahead of us. We get insight on the stories 3 books ago that show us why/how/who did something that seems disastrous then and we get the "aha" moment now. So, some AHA moments in Dark Skye tells us why Nix has been busy playing matchmaker and allowing/arranging for IAD characters to be kidnapped and vivisected. We find out why peacemaking Vrekener are out and about killing Sorceri. And we find out where Fury is. And, as always, we get to fall in love with the bad guy. After all, the things we were lead to believe were not always what they seemed. The villains of yesterday get a chance to tell their side of the stories and learn that they were really the good guy after all. So factions in the Lore who were once enemies now become allies. And they must, because something bigger and badder is coming and Nix knows that they've got to get that crap together if they are to survive. Nix is 5 moves ahead on her chess board too. Thronos has know since he was a boy that Lanthe was his fated mate. Vrekener kill Sorceri or relieve them of their power. (Which is the equivalent of removing their souls) When Thronos's father kills Lanthe's parents, She compels him (with her magics)to jump out the window and not use his wings. Lanthe believes that Thronos told his parents were to find them and by doing so betrays her. He was still a boy, and he never healed right. He hurts him to walk or fly and he is hell bent on getting to her to explain what happened... at first She has spent 500 years running from Thronos because she believes he wants to punish/kill her for what she did that night. Thronos allows himself to be caught by the Order and imprisoned (insight gained from Nix) so that he can finally get his hands on her. Lanthe has spent the better part of the last 500 years putting out to other men trying to find her Mr. Right and forget Thronos. That is a little hard to do when you have a fated mate. Gas meet Fire. When Thronos get her in his clutches, he must decide if he will punish her first and remove her powers and mate her or if he can control himself enough not to kill her for her many perceived betrayals. He never expects to regain his childhood friend. When Morgana retaliates for the attempted murder of her ward Bettina, all hell breaks loose and Thronos will lose more than just his kingdom. Nucking Futs Nix and her foresight has provided the roadmap, Thronos and Lanthe just need to follow it! Best part of the whole book is Nix petition for Goddess-hood. The bomb she dropped left me gaping down at my iPad. It reveals the reason for the whole series. Excellent book.... now, go get it! Happy Reading.
