MacRieve

In this pulse-pounding Immortals After Dark tale, #1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole delves into the darkest mysteries and deepest passions of Clan MacRieve…

A BEAST IN TORMENT
Uilleam MacRieve believed he’d laid to rest the ghosts of his boyhood. But when a brutal torture revives those ancient agonies and destroys his Lykae instinct, the proud Scot craves the oblivion of death. Until he finds her—a young human so full of spirit and courage that she pulls him back from the brink.

A BEAUTY IN CHAINS
Seized for the auction block, Chloe Todd is forced to enter a terrifying new world of monsters and lore as a bound slave. When offered up to creatures of the dark, she fears she won’t last the night. Until she’s claimed by him—a wicked immortal with heartbreaking eyes, whose touch sets her blood on fire.

A FULL MOON ON THE RISE
With enemies circling, MacRieve spirits Chloe away to the isolated Highland keep of his youth. But once he takes her to his bed, his sensual mate becomes something more than human, evoking his savage past and testing his sanity. On the cusp of the full moon, can he conquer his worst nightmare to save Chloe…from himself?

Reviews
  • What a match

In this installment of Kresley Cole’s immortals after dark series, we have the pleasure of meeting Chloe Todd, a professional soccer player, unwitting immortal, and mate to the hottest lykae in Louisiana. Uilleam MacRieve is damaged. After years of abuse as a child and his imprisonment in the Orders island prison he is ready to call it quits. But then Chloe is thrust into his world. Can he overcome years of hatred and love an enemy? Kresely Cole doesn’t disappoint. You love and hate each of the main characters as the story proceeds. Chloe is tough, sometimes to her detriment. MacRieve is bitter and always right. Watching each of them overcome and grow is amazing.

  • Ending Rushed, Hard to suspend disbelief

I reread this in anticipation of Munro coming out in a few months. Some of the scenes and dialogue really pulled me out of the moment. Overall I enjoyed the book but it didn’t give me the same satisfaction as others in the IAD series. [Spoilers below] The characters are hard to like and the relationship is abusive on its face. But if you can get past all that, there’s an intriguing story about healing and forgiveness and prejudice. I’ve waited 7 years for the cliffhanger ending to continue and I’m hoping I like Munro’s story more but I’m having my doubts as these MacReive men seem to have issues with consent.

  • A bit redundant and slow

I found myself scanning pages to get to the heart of the story. I wish Ms Cole had forgone all these stories of side characters when other main characters haven't had their stories? 18 books and yet no end or real start to The Accession aside from the compound fight on the island. These stories are all the same basically and kind of becoming boring. Let's wrap it up Ms. Cole!!

  • Love this series, but...

This was probably my least favorite of all the IAD books. It was the first time I've finished one of Kresley Coles books and thought "Meh." There were some good parts - it starts out very exciting. But after that it just seems to lose steam. And the soccer puns and references were wayyyy overdone and pretty cheesy.
