A Hunger Like No Other

A Hunger Like No Other

In New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Kresley Cole’s sizzling series, a fierce werewolf and a bewitching vampire become unlikely soul mates whose passion will test the boundaries of life and death.

After enduring years of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he’s waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one. Emmaline Troy is a small, ethereal half Valkyrie/half vampire, who somehow begins to soothe the fury burning within him.

Sheltered Emmaline finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents—until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her fear of the Lykae—and their notorious dark desires—ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.

Yet when an ancient evil from her past resurfaces, will their desire deepen into a love that can bring a proud warrior to his knees and turn a gentle beauty into the fighter she was born to be?

    Good reading

  • Good

I liked it but the heroine’s wishy washy attitude was sometimes irritating... I understand trying to depict her transformation but sometimes it was a bit much...

  • Never finished. Really disappointed.

___________________________ Positives: So I never finished the book, but I’ll leave the reasons why in the negatives... What I did like, was how every character had a back story and reason of being mentioned in the book. I also thought how the author put humor into her narrating was funny at times. Especially, when the fae or whatever their called, was in a scene. I couldn’t stop laughing at their dialogue. Everyone says they don’t like this book because in the beginning he forces her to do things, but if you want me to be honest I’ve read much worse books then this. Like straight up Stockholm syndrome. He didn’t actually rape her rape her. But did touch her without permission a lot. I only read 55% of the book (or that’s what Apple Books says) and there was no real rape scene. I would say 16 years olds and up can read this. Negatives: I got really disconnected from the book basically right after they finally “do it.” Not because that’s all I wanted, but because I pushed for that point in the booking hoping it would get better, but it made me not understand what’s happening even more. I really tried to understand what the author was trying to display, but the girl Emma was just so annoying. One second she would love him then the next second she would say f*** you! Like no one was allowed to make mistakes. I understand she can’t lie and so it hard for her to make mistakes in that. But, you really got to be that heartless and go back and forth with your feelings? And when she would like him again it was feeling out of thin air! They would fight constantly and then she would be alone and love him? Makes no sense to me. I took off a star for my disconnection with the characters, plot, and overall book. (Which I’ve never stopped reading a book in the middle before so that should say something) another star because how annoying the two main characters were and another star because I just didn’t like where this book was going. I was hoping for a better story with these two. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Pages: 539 (that’s where I stopped reading) ___________________________ Rates 1-5 Plot: 1 Characters: 2 Ending: didn’t get there Beginning: 2 Details: 3 Story overall how it’s told: 2 Sexual tension: 3 Sex scenes: 3 (only read one sex scene, but a lot of foreplay) How many sex scenes: 2 (same as last comment) Overall rating: 2 ___________________________ Yes/no/maybe Would I recommend: no Would I re-read: no Would I read more books by author: maybe Would I read more books like this: yes ___________________________

  • WTH (Um, spoiler alert, I guess)

Didn’t expect the FIRST two chapters to be one long rape scene. Yikes. I will never have any empathy for the main male character — didn’t even learn his name before I (digitally) slammed the book shut never to be read again. Yuck.

  • Good so far, but keeps failing to stay open

I like it so far, but I keep getting a notification that it can't authenticate and the book closes. Veeeerrryyyy frustrating.
