If You Desire

If You Desire

In this sexy historical romance, the second of the Dark Heart series, a Highlander with a dark past returns to the place he fled long ago to protect a woman he once loved from danger.

He tried to run...

In his youth, Hugh MacCarrick foolishly fell in love with a beautiful English lass who delighted in teasing him with her flirtatious ways. Yet he knew he could never marry her because he was shadowed by an accursed family legacy. To avoid temptation, Hugh left home, ultimately becoming an assassin.

She tried to forget him...

Jane Weyland was devastated when the Highlander she believed would marry her abandoned her instead. Years later, when Hugh MacCarrick is summoned to protect her from her father's enemies, her heartache has turned to fury—but her desire for him has not waned.

Will passion overwhelm them?

In hiding, Jane torments Hugh with seductive play. He struggles to resist her because of deadly secrets that could endanger her further. But Hugh is no longer a gentle young man—and toying with the fever-pitched desires of a hardened warrior will either get Jane burned...or enflame a love that never died.

Not as good as I was hoping but it wasn’t bad. I won’t be buying the rest in the series. I got this one at a discounted price and would’ve been disappointed if I’d paid the $7.99 when there is a lot better books for less. I was more intrigued by Ethan’s character then Hugh’s or Jane’s. I did like the steam in this one but it didn’t make up for some of the bland parts.

  • If You Desire... Ohh...yesss...

This was my first Kresley Cole story. I was drawn to it because it wasn't a paranormal. I wondered if she could write a good historical. Well, I laughed, I cried, I was on the edge,... I truly enjoyed this story. I loved Hugh the moment he very calmly and patiently aimed his rifle and shot the Scotsman who had taken Jane and took a knife to her throat. In that moment I was panicking for her, but Hugh was all calm steel and made no mistakes. As an archer myself, I identified with Jane. I knew her shooting skills would help her when the time came. I enjoyed their banter. The dialogue seemed real... It was like listening to my husband and I. I really enjoyed it and I will definitely go on to read about the other MacCarrick brothers, especially Ethan.

  • This was a good read.

Although I like the immortals after dark books by Cole better, this was a good read.
