Faking It with #41

Fake.

Being the heir to Jacobs Enterprises, I’ve been around fake people my entire life. I promised myself a long time ago that I wouldn’t change for anyone. Which is the only reason I’m a professional hockey player who lives on the beach and does as he pleases without answering to anyone—except my father.

And now, my daughter.

Being a single dad wasn’t in the plan but after a one-night stand who took off after the baby was born, this is my reality.

My dad’s been harping on me to quit hockey and join the company for years and now that I’m a father, he’s only intensified his efforts. Until he makes me a deal I can’t refuse.

Insert Lena Boyd, the Jacobs’ family PR rep. She’s beautiful and intelligent and not at all the woman for me—ask anyone.

My dad needs us to act happily engaged and sell the idea that we’re in love. If we’re successful I won’t have to join the family legacy—ever. Of course, I agree.

That’s when things get complicated. I thought I had her all figured out until I found out there was more underneath her judgmental sneers and eye rolls. It feels like everything is coming together for the future I really want—with Lena—until my past ruins everything.

I was expecting a hocky story and a quick read and got so much more. This author is a genius....she dives you unforgettable strong and deep characters that you fall in love with. I'm in the middle of taking 5 days of intensive continuing education tests and ended up staying up all night to read her book....this book is well worth your time to read....anything is possible....loved it!!! Really good read, great characters, hard to put down. Loved the scenes with father and baby- so much love. The problems that arise and the decisions on how to handle, what could go wrong and did. How it was handled, with truth, love and understanding. Wow so good. Thank you,

  • it was free.. /shrugs..and very cringeworthy..

… bad, just bad. I actually had to force myself to finish. That’s not like me. Usually if it’s just bad I can read it all and scoff at how bad it was and forget it. This was actually cringeworthy

Something about Lena drove me crazy. Her wish washy, want you, no I am not good enough behavior made me want to close the book and give up. I didn’t see a transition for Ford to realize this is the moment I love this woman, it was just bam I love her. This book feels rushed and sadly as a first I can’t say I would recommend to a reader.

  • Five stars for Ford

This is another page turner from Piper Rayne. Ford’s cocky and ladies man. No settling down for him. That is until he becomes a single dad. The scenes between Ford and his daughter are beautifully written and will make your heart melt! Lena is in charge of PR for Ford’s family and is used to having to spin stories about Ford’s antics. She has always had to be responsible. Mr. Jacob’s has a proposition for Ford and Lena that will give each of them something they really want. I loved reading about and seeing Ford discover that maybe there’s more to life than always being a player. Loved all the emotions in this book.
