So Over You

So Over You

Three estranged sisters struggle to sustain their late father’s failing hockey franchise in Kate Meader’s sizzling Chicago Rebels series. In this second entry, middle sister Isobel is at a crossroads in her personal and professional lives. But both are about to get a significant boost with the addition of a domineering Russian powerhouse to the Rebels...

Isobel Chase knows hockey. She played NCAA, won silver at the Games, and made it thirty-seven minutes into the new National Women’s Hockey League before an injury sidelined her dreams. Those who can’t, coach, and a position as a skating consultant to her late father’s hockey franchise, the Chicago Rebels, seems like a perfect fit. Until she’s assigned her first job: the man who skated into her heart as a teen and relieved her of her pesky virginity. These days, left-winger Vadim Petrov is known as the Czar of Pleasure, a magnet for puck bunnies and the tabloids alike. But back then... let’s just say his inability to sink the puck left Isobel frustratingly scoreless.

Vadim has a first name that means “ruler,” and it doesn’t stop at his birth certificate. He dominates on the ice, the practice rink, and in the backseat of a limo. But a knee injury has produced a bad year, and bad years in the NHL don’t go unrewarded. His penance? To be traded to a troubled team where his personal coach is Isobel Chase, the woman who drove him wild years ago when they were hormonal teens. But apparently the feeling was not entirely mutual.

That Vadim might have failed to give Isobel the pleasure that was her right is intolerable, and he plans to make it up to her—one bone-melting orgasm at a time. After all, no player can perfect his game without a helluva lot of practice...

This is the second book in the Chicago Rebels series. Each story is a standalone although the characters are interconnected. Isobel Chase, along with her two estranged stepsisters, inherited the Chicago Rebels hockey team. The three sisters are working hard to fulfill all the requirements of their father's will. As the sisters spend time together, they slowly developed a friendship and learn to trust each other. Isobel was a hockey player in a women's league and ready for great things, until an injury sidelined her. Now, as one of the the owners of the team, she is working as a coaching consultant. Isobel and her sisters are trying to fight sexist opinions about women owning a hockey team. Isobel would love to one day become the team’s coach but she knows many people would be opposed to a woman coaching a men’s professional hockey team. Vadim Petrov is the newest player acquired by the Rebels. He and Isobel had a past, although they haven't seen each other in years. Vadim is recovering from a knee injury and isobel is coaching him through it. Neither of them want to admit they still feel the sparks they felt years ago. They are both stubborn and too proud to admit they care. So instead, they argue and fight. Isobel knows getting involved with one of her players would only hurt her reputation. This story is full of emotion yet it is also fun, flirty and sexy. I liked Isobel and Vadim. I found it easy to relate to them and wanted them to find a way to be together. There are also engaging secondary and I hope to see them in future stories. Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book vIa Cocktails and Books and Netgalley. The opinions expressed are my own.

  • LOVED LOVED LOVED It!!!

I missed the first book in this series but Isobel and Vadim's story is an awesome introduction for me to these characters. Vadim, the Czar of Pleasure, has been traded to the Chicago Rebels but a previous knee injury means that he needs to work with a consultant to be ready to get back on the ice. The consultant he's been assigned to is the girl who drove him crazy and nearly ended his dreams of being in the NHL. Vadim has very different memories of the one time he and Isobel were together and when he finds out that he left her unsatisfied, he becomes determined to right the wrongs of his past. I absolutely loved these two characters. I loved the dual POV and couldn't get enough of getting into the heads of both Vadim and Isobel. They're witty, funny, independent, strong, and stubborn. Their passion burned bright and from the very first interaction they had, I wanted them to be together forever and always. I fell in love with the banter and connection between all of the characters. I can't wait to go back and read books 0.5 and 1 and see what's up next for the Rebels. *This is my voluntary review of an advanced reader copy*

  • Fantastic!!!

Incredible story from the mistress of storytelling. What Kate did with the Firemen series, she doubles down on the hockey players. I LOVED THIS BOOK!! Who wouldn't love a crazy, passionate, sassy Russian who wants his first love back. Vadim's a moody cuss and he ranges from punch your lights out to a teddy bear you want to hug. He was Isobel's first( and only really) The three sisters now trying to run the Rebels as directed by their late father's will. That story in itself was a twister. The backstory of Vadim and Bella as he calls her was another great plot twist and Isobel is taxed with coaching and moreover coaching Vadim who is on the injured list back into playing shape if the team has any hope of getting anywhere near the playoffs. Vadim fights her at first, then slowly comes around. It was great to watch him melt her socks truthfully. Vi got on my nerves in a huge way with the exception of one small part toward the end. She's surpassed wild child and aiming for who knows and she may or may not be playing more than hockey with one of the team. My speculation only. Harper still orbits her own planet and it happily settled with Ren. Read book one. Just read it! This book just did me in, I loved Vadim, in all his Russian craziness he's a warm fuzzy disguised as the ultimate grouch. Bella is a strong female and I loved her role in this book. Reading her backstory left me to wonder how she made it through some of the things she faced and came out so normal. There's also more of their father's story in this book. What a jack hat this man was! Kate Meader, you have once again slayed me with your writing and I absolutely loved this book! I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could! It's a winner!

  • Awesome

I loved this story!! These characters just made my heart swell. Great writing and a story that will make you laugh and swoon made this a very enjoyable read. Isobel Chase is strong, confident, and talented on the ice maybe not quite so much in life but she's determined not to let anyone see that vulnerable side. She's working hard to earn respect in the hockey coaching world and she can't let her newest assignment, Vadim Petrov damage what she's worked so hard for. Vadim is Russian born, dominating, and pure sex. He and Isobel have a history. As teens they shared one night of passion before being caught by her father. When Vadim finds out that night may not have been as memorable for Isobel as it was for him he makes it his mission to show her just how much his uDon't skills have improved! Don't miss this one. I highly recommend it.
