It Ends with Us

It Ends with Us

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Starts with Us and All Your Perfects, a “brave and heartbreaking novel that digs its claws into you and doesn’t let go, long after you’ve finished it” (Anna Todd, New York Times bestselling author) about a workaholic with a too-good-to-be-true romance can’t stop thinking about her first love—soon to be a major motion picture starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. And when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life seems too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

An honest, evocative, and tender novel, It Ends with Us is “a glorious and touching read, a forever keeper. The kind of book that gets handed down” (USA TODAY).

Reviews
  • Captivating & Intensely emotional

This is the best book I’ve read in a while. I couldn’t stop reading it and when I did I would literally feel excited to pick it back up. I feel like part of me became Lily and her emotions. I could feel every word written in my body as if I were living it. Now I’m going to read more of Colleen’s books!

  • OMGOSH AMAZINGGGGUUUHHHHH

I absolutely love this book. I was automatically drawn into their story, and I was sooo curious about Atlas. I was flip flopping between who I liked better, Ryle or Atlas. I would love Ryle, then he would do something stupid and I would hate him. Overall an amazing book!! I could not put it down. Tbh I was a little nervous to read it bc I’ve always heard that she writes a lot of smut. But me and my friends all started reading it around the same time and we all love it!!!!!!!! There are no words to describe it!! I started and finished the book yesterday!! I loved it and would totally recommend it to ANYONE who loves romance and drama as much as I do!! Now me and my friends are reading “It Starts With Us”, and it is smashing so far!!! I’m almost done with it as well, I officially love Colleen Hoover just by reading 2 books!! Definitely will check out some more of her writes!!!

  • Excellent plot but narration lacked authenticity

Hoover’s conversational narration and relatable storyline about generational trauma kept the pages turning for me. However, I wish the narrator’s inner monologue dove a bit deeper into what it’s like to question yourself when you love an abusive person. Lily’s analyses of the world around her felt a bit too surface level for a twenty-four year old from an abusive home. I wish we saw more vulnerability and raw inner thoughts from Lily. She came off so composed despite her abuse that it didn’t feel authentic.
